Taking an appeal to POPLA.
For eligible private parking charges, POPLA provides independent consideration after the operator’s appeal process.
Check your deadline
POPLA says you have 28 days from the operator’s rejection to submit an appeal. Check the date and instructions immediately. A complaint to the operator or BPA does not extend this deadline.
No 10-digit verification code?
Check the complete rejection letter and your spam folder. POPLA says a rejected appeal submitted to the operator within 28 days should be accompanied by a verification code. Request the missing code from the operator promptly and retain the correspondence. If the operator refuses in these circumstances, POPLA directs motorists to the BPA.
Prepare the full submission
Provide your grounds, a clear timeline and all relevant evidence when submitting. POPLA says you cannot later add new evidence, and it does not accept evidence through external file-sharing links. You can comment on the operator’s evidence at the relevant stage; this is not an opportunity to rebuild your original appeal.
Understand the payment choice
The discounted amount may no longer be available after a POPLA appeal. Paying can affect eligibility to appeal. Check your notice and current POPLA guidance before choosing.
Use facts specific to your visit
Explain the alleged breach and why you dispute it. Generic templates are a starting point, not a substitute for relevant evidence. POPLA decisions depend on each case.
